  • Saumur International CCI3* and CIC2*

It was a fantastic week at Saumur, although saddened by the death of Happy Go Lucky who suffered a heart attack and despite the heavy rain, everyone was in good spirits - it was great to be at such a wonderful international event.

The horses, Nel (Spring Sensation) and Matrix were absolute stars! They both performed absolutely brilliantly, and I couldn't have asked for more. Even more exciting was Matrix's result of 17th! He was so on form and didn't put a hoof wrong.

Nel and Matrix travelled really well, and are definatley going to have a week off in the field relaxing!

  • Chilham Castle (1) - 26th April '14

A fun day at Chilham - James (Mr Bond) who was semi-retired at the end of last season having gone advanced, enjoyed his day out - and came 5th in the Open Novice and gave a super ride. Bean and Pye were also good, but not in the placings...

  • Burnham Market International - 17th April '14

Matrix and Nel both superstars, although Nel got eliminated on a technicality in the xc which was hugely frustrating! Oh well, all part of the game!

  • South of England (1) - 12th April 2014

Fabulous day at South of England - All the horses were excellent! Final Try (Bean) gave a lovely ride (but had a couple of showjumps down). Pye had a fantastic day - his first ever novice and came home with a rosette! Very pleased with his 5th place! Spring Sensation (Nel) was an absolute dream with a fabulous dressage and lovely double clear in the Intermediate, and came 3rd. Finally Matrix came 7th in the OI with a good dressage, and just 1 down in the showjumping - very pleased with all of them!!!!!

  • Aston Le Walls - 6th April

I went all the way to Aston La Walls Yesterday. It took me 3 hours so not too bad.

They had an unaffiliated 100 and novice there. What a great place Aston is - Nigel puts so much work into it, and he's around all the time to make sure it all runs okay. We did all our dressage and show jumping on all weather. Real luxury! Pye did his first Novice with 33 dress clear sj and xc so he finished 8th. Very pleased with him. He is really growing into a very nice horse. Bean also did very well. He did the 100 class. 29 dress 1 down sj. and a lovely clear xc.

Bean's confidence is just growing with each competition. He will very soon become a nice junior horse for someone. He finished 10th. I also did the novice on Nell. Wanted to give her a bit of confidence before SOE, next weekend. She was lovely as always and won the Novice after a 29 dress double clear. Next outing is next weekend with Bean doing a 100 Pye another novice and Nell and Matrix doing the Intermediate.

  • Great Witchingham International - 21st March '14

First event of the season!!!!! It was great to be back out competing - and the 4 horses were all fantastic.

Fernhill Pye and Final Try (Bean) were really super in the BE100 - both had 1 show jump down, but apart from rolling a pole, they were faultess!

Mr Matrix and Spring Sensation (Nel) were also really super, although a slight bit malfunction(!) lead to a stop with Matrix and Nel also had a couple of cross country errors - which were just down to greeness and 'one of those things'... All in all, a very positive and pleasing start to the season...

Looking forward to Goring Heath with Pye and Bean next week!

  • Mondial du Lion 7yo International Championships

Having had about 24 hours to get back from Holland with Matrix - Anna set off in the lorry once more, this time with the lovely Nel (Spring Sensation) for the International 7 year old championships, which was abandoned after the dressage last year due to a burst river bank and extensive flooding.

This year the conditions looked good, and again, everyone at the yard was excited about the last big competition of the year.

Nel - fit and ready, and Anna, a bit battered and bruised after her fall at Boekelo arrived in France after a long journey. They settled in and Nel was in fine form... The dressage score was a little disappointing, as Nel usually does a great test, but everyone was looking forward to the cross country - The course was riding reasonably well, and Nel started strong, but for some reason just went straight past number 4! Anna managed to pull her up, turn her round and she jumped it beautifully. She went on to have one more run out in the cross country and 2 down in the showjumping, but Anna was really very pleased with Nel's performance on the whole - Anna rode the whole competition with cracked ribs and a cracked collar bone, so really - they did very well indeed to get round in one piece!

So - its been a really great season - the horses have been out pretty much every weekend, and have performed fantastically. They are all having a very well deserved rest and Anna managed to have a week off riding just to let herself get a bit less sore - needless to say, she was back in the saddle after a few days!

  • Boekelo *** (CCI)

Having secured a late entry for Boekelo, we were very excited to wave Matrix off on his Dutch adventure. The horses arrived and settled in well, and the excitement was building up to day one - Dressage. Matrix being a nosey fellow, can get a bit tense, but he performed a beautiful test putting him in a strong position and well up the ranks. The cross country course walked well - and Matrix was ready for the challenge - he is a great little horse cross country, and it is his strongest phase, however, to everyone's disbelief he took fell in the water which of course led to elimination. Thankfully he was absolutely fine, but Anna had a few bruises and cracked ribs - which of course didn't stop her, as she put her mind to the last competition of the season....!

  • Munstead (2)

A mixed day at Munstead for the Trio of Pye, DD and Bean (Final Try).

All 3 boys had a good dressage score, Pye 28.5, DD 33.5 and Bean 30.5 which was a fabulous start.

Pye went on to have a cracking double clear with no time penalties which lead to him winninng his section!

DD had 1 showjump down, and did a lovely clear cross country which gave him a final placing of a very respectable 12th and Bean was retired after the showjumping phase.
